It can already have far-reaching consequences for a manufacturer if its ergometer disturbs television reception in the living room. The consequences can be even more serious if, for example, in a model flying competition the remote control interferes with the control of other model aircraft, or if a visitor to the fitness studio is injured as a result of a technical defect. Especially in the sport and leisure area, where adult consumers have difficulties in seeing the threat of danger in a recreational situation and children possibly do not even consider such risks, the legislators have introduced strict safety requirements.

As this is not merely a question of interference-free EMC, but also the exclusion of faults in either the electric al or mechanical safety, the EMC Competence Center checks all these relevant factors. The manufacturer is thus provided with legal certainty.

If the assured quality is subject to influence by interference, this then means a restriction of the guaranteed function or expressed in legal terms, the ‘assured quality’. Only if the test proof has been furnished, is a manufacturer protected - no matter which products he has tested by the EMC Competence Center: electrical railways, motor-racing circuits, remote-controlled toys, electronic games, electrical/electronic musical instruments, pieces of sports equipment like treadmills, ergometers, steppers and many more.
